Andreo Kamau

EARLY LIFE

Andreo Kamau was born and raised in Nakuru, Kenya. His mother passed away when he was very young; he has said he remembers little beyond viewing her casket. His father had previously lived in Austria. After experiencing personal losses, his father relocated to Kenya to start afresh. Following his mother’s death, Andreo was raised by his maternal uncle (whom he refers to as “Papa”), who was fluent in German/related languages in some accounts. He has described being somewhat directionless about a career path in his early years. While studying business and accounting, he realized he did not want a conventional office job and began exploring performance.

CAREER

Andreo Kamau’s acting career began around 2008. One of his early professional experiences was on the Kenyan television series Changing Times. He has described discovering that acting allowed him to feel a sense of belonging and look forward to the work. He gained wider visibility through television roles, including the Switch TV series Arnold & Bundi, in which he played a character he has said was very different from his real-life personality. Notable film credits include: 40 Sticks (2020) – Mustafa (Kenyan thriller that premiered on Netflix; part of an all-Kenyan cast and crew production) Mission to Rescue (2021) – Mohammed (credited as Andreo Jager Kamau) Just in Time (2021) – Bookstore Clerk (credited as Andreo Jager; family comedy-drama that also reached Netflix) He has continued working in Kenyan film and television productions and maintains a presence in the local industry.

Andreo has kept much of his private life out of the media spotlight. In earlier interviews he has spoken about the importance of work that feels meaningful and enjoyable rather than purely obligatory.
