What Tomorrow Holds

Gladys and Jude endure five failed IVF attempts before they adopt a boy named Chidi. In What Tomorrow Holds, Gladys soon gives birth to their biological son Emeka, who is autistic, and the couple's fragile peace is tested by Gladys's close friend Kate. One day a grown and successful Chidi arrives at Eva's home, revealing that he is Eva's son‑in‑law. Gladys collapses at his feet and begs for forgiveness, confessing that Kate's jealousy drove her to abandon him. Chidi initially refuses, telling his wife he cannot forgive the unimaginable things done to him, but his wife urges him toward forgiveness as a path to healing. Gladys is hospitalized from stress, pleads again, and Chidi's resolve breaks and he kneels and forgives her. Chidi then calls his biological father, reconnecting after decades and learning he has half‑siblings. Then Gladys moves into Chidi's home, no longer a servant but a mother restored to her place at the dining table. Chidi, his wife, and Gladys share a meal together, and Chidi raises a toast to family, forgiveness, and new beginnings. His wife echoes the toast to new beginnings, Gladys adds a toast to love, and they clink glasses.
