Loose Ends

"Loose Ends" follows Richard, a married man hiding a double life. For years, he cheats on his wife Wendy with young Sophia, buying her gifts like a fancy bracelet and promising to divorce Wendy after 18 years of marriage. He lies to Sophia, saying she's his true love. To pay for this, Richard fakes an "Agrotech" investment scam to trick friends into giving money, claiming big profits. But really, he steals from the joint account with Wendy, meant for their daughter's school fees. He takes out big sums, like 300,000 Naira, without telling her. Wendy gets alerts on her phone about missing money while at her shop. She asks Richard at home, and he lies, saying he borrowed it for a safe investment and will pay back soon. But Wendy feels something is wrong, since they agreed not to touch that money. Things get worse when Richard saves Sophia's number as "Mechanic" in his phone. One night, his car breaks down, and the phone rings with "Mechanic" calling. Wendy picks up and hears a woman say she misses him. Shocked, Wendy cries and confronts him next day. Richard denies it, saying it was the mechanic's wife or daughter, and calls her crazy for thinking too much. Wendy talks to her friends, who tell her to stop crying and check more. She finds out Richard used their savings to pay three years' rent for Sophia's nice apartment, while she and the kids struggle. Richard goes to Sophia's place, happy at first, but gets angry when he sees she used his money for luxury, not business like she said. Now broke, Sophia dumps him, saying she only wanted his cash. He gets kicked out. Broken and alone, Richard loses his mistress, money, and family. In a sad live video on social media, he confesses everything: cheating for 18 years, stealing kids' education money for the affair. He says Wendy left with the children to Canada because of the pain. Crying, he begs people online to help him ask Wendy for forgiveness. The movie shows how lies and greed destroy lives, like a warning story.
