Storyline

Helen suffers from a long-term illness, and her husband grows resentful, treating her with cold indifference and eventually cruelty. Their daughter Pearl and son Chris initially show concern, but the father openly desires a younger wife, viewing Helen as a burden. Chris adopts his father's selfish worldview, causing friction with his wife Cindy, who is appalled by the family's treatment of the sick woman. Despite Cindy's protests, the father and son force Helen out of the home. Feeling abandoned and betrayed, Helen is sent to the village, where she collapses and dies. Instead of mourning, the family focuses on funeral logistics. Their moral decay leads to the loss of their city home and exile to the village. The climax comes when the father suffers a sudden physical collapse. This forces Chris and Cindy to confront their actions; they are left in remorse and grief, realizing that their greed and abandonment of Helen in FATAL BETRAYAL has led to their own total ruin.
