Storyline
Prince Uzor comes home to his family's royal palace after two decades in America. In Above And Beyond, his parents, the king and queen, present Princess Jasmine, daughter of King Dike, as his arranged wife, a match meant to strengthen two towns. Uzor is brash and dismissive. He refuses the royal outfit his mother chose and calls the king 'pops.' On a morning run with his guard D, he finds Adaeze, a childhood friend now orphaned and banished as an outcast for an abomination she never understood. She is afraid of him, but he persuades her to meet again. After she tells him about her hard life and her dream of studying in the city, he brings her to the palace as Suntochuku Onyema. Adaeze creates a natural pesticide that solves the town's crop crisis, becomes head of palace staff, and wins over the royal family. Uzor falls in love with her. Princess Jasmine grows suspicious. Jasmine uncovers the truth of Adaeze's lineage, and she shows photographic evidence to the king and queen. Enraged that an osu lives in the palace, the king imprisons Adaeze and locks Uzor in his room. At a gathering of elders, he decrees that Adaeze will be executed at the next full moon. On execution night, a masked man raises a machete. Uzor breaks free and bursts in with a weapon. He tells the crowd he brought Adaeze here, would die for her, and calls the tradition barbaric. He confesses his love. The king, moved by his son's desperation, orders her release and abolishes the osu tradition. Uzor embraces Adaeze and promises he will never leave her. Princess Jasmine storms off and warns that her father, King Dike, will hear of this. Uzor presents Adaeze to his parents as his future queen. The king welcomes her into the family, and he says Uzor's engineering and Adaeze's craftsmanship will make the town the envy of all. He orders a grand celebration, and the couple shares a kiss in front of the approving royal family.
