A Mother's Measure

The movie A Mother's Measure tells how a mother favors her older daughter Sandra and is mean to the younger one Calista. The mother praises Sandra for looking young and gives her gifts and a new phone. She tells Calista she can take her things and always criticizes her. Calista scores 325 in her JAMB exam and shows it to Sandra. Sandra lies and says it is her score. The mother celebrates with Sandra and Calista is left crying. Later Samuel, Sandra's boyfriend, gives Calista a ride in his white Range Rover. Calista tells him about the bad treatment. The mother sees and slaps Calista, accusing her of trying to steal the boyfriend. The mother gives all shopping gifts to Sandra and does not share snacks with Calista. Calista finds out she is pregnant but the father rejects her and says she looks old. Sandra fights with her over the TV and the mother sides with Sandra, calling Calista a cockroach and sending her out. At night, Calista is outside when Samuel arrives. He takes her in and then breaks up with Sandra. He reveals he is married and was using Sandra. He says Sandra is 33 years old and was pretending to be young. Sandra cries in pain. Despite everything, Calista comforts her sister. The mother finally sees her mistake and hugs both daughters. She asks for forgiveness for her blind favoritism in the end.
