Storyline
The story begins with a celebration of birth, but quickly shifts to the struggles of Hannah, who suffers from recurring nightmares about her own infertility and the intense jealousy of her husband Elkanah's second wife, Peninnah. Peninnah frequently mocks Hannah for being barren and pressures Elkanah, causing deep emotional turmoil in their household. Despite Elkanah's attempts to comfort Hannah, she remains heartbroken, leading her to seek solace in prayer at a sacred place, where she vows that if God grants her a child, she will dedicate the child to His service. Her prayers are answered, and she conceives a son, Samuel. The pregnancy brings joy and prosperity to the household, though it heightens tensions with Peninnah. A physical altercation between the wives leads to a fall, triggering a stressful but ultimately successful labor. Following the birth of Samuel and a period of domestic peace, Hannah is faced with the challenge of fulfilling her vow. Despite Elkanah's initial hesitation, the couple eventually reconciles with their commitment to their faith. They travel to the temple in Shiloh to entrust young Samuel to the care of the priest Eli. The film concludes with the family finding spiritual fulfillment through their sacrifice, paralleling the biblical account of Hannah's faith.
