A Thousand Little Pieces

The story of A Thousand Little Pieces follows Daniel and Jessica, a Lagos couple whose marriage is falling apart. Ten years ago, they were deeply in love, sharing playful moments and physical affection. But now, their relationship is defined by resentment and emotional distance. Jessica feels she does all the work—caring for their son Lucas, managing the home, and carrying the emotional burden. Daniel feels misunderstood and turns to his job for approval, neglecting his family. Things come to a head when Daniel fails to pick Lucas up from school, leading to a crisis. Jessica confronts Daniel, calling him a failure, and they have screaming fights. Daniel tries to make amends with gifts and forced intimacy, but Jessica sees through his hollow efforts. A counselor advises Jessica to focus on herself and her son. Realizing the marriage cannot be saved, Jessica asks for a divorce during a mediation session. Daniel packs his belongings and moves out. In the end, Jessica sits alone in her quiet home, feeling a sense of peace and liberation. The film shows how a once-loving couple can drift apart until only the pieces remain.
