Uzee Usman Adeyemi

Uzee Usman Adeyemi (born November 11, 1986),is a Nigerian actor and film producer known for his film Voiceless, Mustapha, Anikulapo, Oga Abuja and A Tribe Called Judah. His ability for fusing Nollywood and Kannywood together won him several awards and recognitions Globally.

EARLY LIFE

Uzee Usman Adeyemi was born on November 11, 1986, in Kaduna, Kaduna State, Nigeria. Although born and raised in the North, he hails from Kwara State and is of Yoruba ethnic background. His mother is Fulani from Zaria. He holds degrees in Political Science from the University of Abuja and English Language from the University of Jos. He also received an honorary doctorate from Iheris University, Togo, in 2021 before he proceeded to study Special Effects in South Africa.

CAREER

Uzee began his career in 2003 as a make-up artist. In 2013, he moved into film production, becoming a bridge between the Kannywood and Nollywood industries. He has produced and starred in numerous successful films including 'Oga Abuja', 'Maja', 'Voiceless', 'Mustapha', 'Anikulapo', and the record-breaking 'A Tribe Called Judah' (2023). He also portrayed Prince Kuranga in the Netflix series 'Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre'. His ability for fusing Nollywood and Kannywood together won him several awards and recognitions Globally. He won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Makeup in 2008 for 'London Boy'. Oga Abuja won Best Hausa Movie of the Year at the 2013 City People Entertainment Awards; and Maja won Best Film of the Year (Kannywood) at the 2014 City People Entertainment Awards and was nominated in the Best Picture category at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2021, He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Iheris University, Togo. In May 2023, TAJBank announced him as their brand ambassador. In 2024, YNaija listed Uzee among the 100 most influential Nollywood actors who have made a mark in the industry in the past year. In 2024, Uzee A. was among the 100 Most Notable African Peace Icons of 2023 and 2024.

PERSONAL LIFE

Uzee Usman maintains a private personal life. In interviews, he has mentioned being single and focused on his career. He is an active advocate for peace and cultural diplomacy, serving as a United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Ambassador and a brand ambassador for various organizations like TAJBank.
