EARLY LIFE

Vincent Okonkwo is a Nigerian who pursued a technical education path. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUTECH) in 2005. He later travelled to the United Kingdom and completed a Master’s degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, in September 2009. He also holds international professional certifications, including Oracle 10G Certified Professional and Cisco Certified Network Associate.

CAREER

Vincent Okonkwo is a Nigerian engineer-turned-film executive producer and the founder of VSL Media. After returning to Nigeria in October 2009 following his Master’s degree, he engaged in business. In 2016 he established RIVADESCA Limited, a company involved in hardwood charcoal, property development, haulage of containerized goods, and Infotech consultancy. His diversification into the creative industry led him to found VSL Media Limited in 2018. The company focuses on producing commercially viable, story-driven content for both Nigerian cinema and global streaming platforms. Key productions under VSL Media / Executive Produced by Vincent Okonkwo include, Where Lovers Meet, Turning Tables, Ghost Story, Ponzi (2021), The Wildflower, Passport (2022), Honey Money, and The Covenant (Netflix series). He is known for being heavily hands-on in production — involving himself in script development, casting, promotion, and distribution strategy. He has described himself as one of the best cast directors in the industry and stresses the importance of balancing creative passion with commercial viability and return on investment. His films have achieved box-office success and secured distribution on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Africa Magic, and major Nigerian cinema chains (including Filmhouse).
