The Young Daddy

In The Young Daddy, Roland returns to his chaotic family home after his father leaves abruptly. His mother, once a formidable businesswoman, has retreated into grief and the rent is unpaid. His sister Vivian drowns in alcohol and an abusive relationship with Nelson, the landlord's volatile son. His other sister Meg endures physical abuse from her partner Jude. The family faces imminent eviction. Roland's girlfriend Kendra urges him to take a career opportunity abroad but he chooses to stay and try to rebuild their shattered lives. He imposes strict house rules including a curfew and sobriety demands and financial accountability. Vivian resists fiercely and resents his authority and clings to her toxic relationship. Roland confronts Nelson over the rent hike and Vivian's bruises, leading to a violent altercation where he asserts his role as protector. He also challenges Jude and ejects him from the house after a tense standoff. Kendra visits the house and Roland's mother initially rejects her but later warms to her after witnessing Roland's dedication. Vivian reaches a breaking point and begins to contemplate change. Meg finally acknowledges her abuse and considers leaving Jude. The climax erupts when Meg arrives at the house with Jude and Roland publicly denounces him. A heated confrontation follows where Roland's mother intervenes and Jude leaves the house. Vivian commits to sobriety and launches an interior design venture using money Roland provided. Roland's mother reconciles with him after he explains he left his lucrative career to prevent his family from suffering his father's abandonment, and she accepts Kendra. Roland declines a lucrative job offer that would require him to abandon his family again, choosing instead to pursue local projects while supporting his sisters' recovery. The family shares a celebratory meal where Roland formally introduces Kendra and his mother toasts to unity and communication.
