Storyline

In The Man Who Said No, young Ayomide marries Deyemi over her mother's objections. On their wedding night, he promises travel, a dream house, and a custom SUV. Deyemi loses his job, and he drinks and takes his anger out on her. Ayomide contacts Badmus, an old university acquaintance at the governor's office. Badmus manipulates her and sleeps with her in exchange for getting Deyemi a job. Deyemi gets the job, but Badmus reveals he knows a birthmark on his wife. He confronts Ayomide, and she confesses she betrayed him to end his suffering. Deyemi refuses to forgive cheating, serves her divorce papers, and leaves. Ayomide suffers a heart attack, and Deyemi gives her a blank check in the hospital. He says the relationship is over. Years later, Ayomide has a heart condition. Her son Tamuno prepares to marry Ife, and Ayomide blesses him on introduction day. She travels with her husband Samson to Ife's family home, where Ife's father Smith and his wife Kate welcome them. Ayomide recognizes Smith as Deyemi. She erupts, grabs his necklace, and says Tamuno will never marry his daughter. The strain of her heart condition is too much, and she collapses. Ayomide forbids the marriage, calling Deyemi a beast. Deyemi refuses Ife's demand for an apology, saying he was right to leave a cheating wife. Under pressure from Samson and her failing health, Ayomide gives Tamuno her blessing. Tamuno tells Ife his mother's heart matters more than his happiness, breaks the engagement, leaves her by the pool, and returns to his mother. Ife brings red roses to Ayomide with an apology note for her father's treatment, and Ayomide weeps. Deyemi remains unrepentant and tells Ife that leaving Ayomide was right and that he can never forgive cheating. Tamuno prepares to leave, mentioning his flight in a few hours. Ayomide cries over the roses as Ife's apology note sits beside her.
