Love Recipe

Amara is a corporate executive whose ordered life breaks open when her sister dies and leaves her with young niece Maya. In Love Recipe, Maya rejects the unfamiliar room and Amara cannot feed her because her kitchen is empty and every restaurant she tries is closed. Desperate, she knocks on the door of her neighbor Stanley, a chef, and he feeds Maya. When Amara admits she does not know the basics, Stanley begins teaching her to cook. At his restaurant Amara learns to trust the process and slow down, and Maya settles and becomes Stanley's helper and assistant to the funny security guard, QC. Amara's work slips, she misses deadlines, and her boss warns her that she is losing focus. She has an intimate evening with Stanley, then panics and tells him he is a distraction, that she does not do boyfriends, and that he should go back to Ada. She buries herself in work, neglects Maya, and collapses from exhaustion. Maya finds her and fetches Stanley, who nurses her back to health with herbal tea. Amara apologizes, but the board places her on immediate mandatory three-month leave. Devastated, she clears her desk. At the restaurant, Mrs. Okoro tells her a tree sheds leaves in autumn to grow deeper roots, and Amara starts her own consulting firm. She wins a major client by applying the patience Stanley taught her and respecting the company's foundation rather than pushing speed. Ada designs branding materials for the new firm, and Mrs. Okoro and Stanley celebrate. Her old company offers her the CEO role with equity and autonomy, and Amara keeps her new life. The newspaper features her as a consultant reshaping Lagos's business sector. She returns home to Maya, who wears a security guard uniform, and to Stanley, and they share a happy dinner and toast. By the pool, she tells Stanley that where she once saw competition and pressure in the city, she now sees a home.
