For This I Promise

In "For This Promise," Ivy has been secretly dating Tobi despite her wealthy father Chief Udemba's strict rules. When Tobi is caught sneaking into the family home, Chief Udemba confronts him, grounds Ivy, and deepens the rift between father and daughter. The family chef Boniface tries to support Ivy through her troubles, but she soon discovers Tobi has been cheating on her with another woman, so she ends the relationship. A drunken night with Boniface leaves Ivy pregnant, and when she confesses to her family, Chief Udemba furiously places a massive bounty on Boniface's head, forcing the couple to flee and live in hiding. Living in hiding, the couple struggles with poverty and the complications of gestational diabetes, while Boniface works odd jobs and sacrifices his dream of opening a restaurant to care for her. Ivy's mother attempts to reconcile, but when Ivy overhears a phone call revealing that her mother is only pretending to be kind in order to locate them for Chief Udemba, she cuts off contact. As bounty hunters close in, Boniface is struck by a car while fleeing and hospitalized. Ivy goes into labor and is told the baby has died, sending her into deep grief. In the hospital, she confronts her father, blaming him for the loss and threatening to expose his fraudulent business dealings to police and media, then disowns him. Just as the family is shattered, a doctor arrives with unexpected news: the baby is alive and being cared for in the ICU. Overwhelmed with relief, Ivy and Boniface are reunited with their child. Ivy's brother Gideon returns home and urges the family to resolve its conflicts. Chief Udemba, remorseful, explains that his harshness came from his own experiences with poverty and loss, apologizes sincerely, and promises to pay Boniface's medical bills and support their new family. He accepts Boniface as his son-in-law and agrees to fund Boniface's restaurant dream. The family comes together, healing old wounds.
