Chief Akintola refuses Nora's proposed merger, insisting no jobs will be lost. That night, while Nora is with a man, Tess calls to say their father has died. After the funeral, associate London mentions Chief called him the night before his death, but Nora dismisses it. The will gives relatives money and houses, Nora 45% of the company, and Tess the CEO role with 20%, leaving Nora wounded and Tess bewildered. At home, Nora's grief erupts as she clutches her father's portrait, drinks, and smashes the frame.
