Breaking Point

In Breaking Point the film opens with Kike and Tunde sharing a quiet morning that shows love and strain. Kike earns praise from her boss Dele after a strong presentation and is invited on a two day business trip to Abuja. Tunde faces repeated rejections in his job search and his frustration grows, so he asks pointed questions about her relationship with Dele. The questions plant seeds of doubt that begin to fracture their domestic peace. Kike returns from Abuja and Dele offers her a promotion to lead a new office in London, and Tunde reacts with hostility framing it as betrayal. He accuses Kike of infidelity and his behavior turns into controlling aggression as he monitors her communications, destroys her phone, and assaults her leaving bruises. Kike confides in her friend Tola who urges her to recognize the danger, but Kike clings to hope that Tunde's stress is temporary. Tunde secures a low paying teaching job yet remains volatile and issues an ultimatum that the marriage ends if she accepts the London post. Kike secretly accepts the promotion and plans to flee the night before her flight, entrusting her passport and documents to Tola. Tunde discovers the packed suitcase, confronts her at the front door, and violently restrains her by the neck while threatening to kill her. The altercation draws police intervention and Tunde is hospitalized. Kike visits him in the hospital where officers have placed him under arrest. She delivers a final reckoning, recounts how his love turned into fear and silence, and declares the marriage over. With Tunde detained Kike embraces Tola and accepts her passport back, which marks her reclaiming of autonomy. She walks away from the hospital, leaving Tunde pleading for another chance, and steps into an uncertain future defined by her own choice.
