Band Of Five: Episode 1

In Band Of Five, Nora hates her job and tells the audience as much. She gets ready at home, her mother tells her to eat breakfast, and she helps her friend Sarah choose dresses for a governor’s party. Zara returns home with news that her study visa for fashion school in France has been approved. Her leaving means she can no longer pay Nora or stay in touch with her. Cassandra, a businesswoman, sits in a car with her associate Ik and shakes because the man she helped send to prison has been released. Cassandra admits she stole from that man and gave evidence against him, and she says he may come for her, her daughter Ivy, and her company. She sends Ik to find her estranged sister Catherine. At Cass Editorial an internal leak forces an emergency board meeting, and Zara interviews for a job that day. Her résumé earns early praise until a senior woman coldly denies her application because Zara lacks the necessary connections. Zara tells a friend at a restaurant that she landed the Cass Editorial job through sheer luck. Ik reaches Catherine’s gated house and apologizes for the past. He says the company needs her, but Catherine answers that an apology cannot fix the wrong done to her. Ik arranges a tense meeting between Catherine and Cassandra. At the meeting, Cassandra admits Cass Editorial is going under and asks Catherine to take over as CEO temporarily. Catherine, still bitter, questions her sister’s motives and refuses, and Cassandra walks to the restroom and never returns. Ik tells Catherine that Cassandra has vanished. The board is convening in secret, and a corporate rival wants to seize the company. He begs Catherine to be the CEO and a mother to Ivy. Catherine objects but agrees to impersonate her sister. In the car she asks about the dresses in the back seat, and Ik explains that he will coach her on Cassandra’s traits so no one, especially Ivy, will suspect the switch. They reach the apartment.
