EARLY LIFE

Rachel Edwards Akowe was born on October 6, 1994, in Kano State, Nigeria, to Mr. and Mrs. Edwards Akowe. She spent her early years in northern Nigeria before her family moved to the South-South region. She is an indigene of Edo State and comes from a Christian household. Rachel spent her formative years living in Benin City and aspired to be an actress, participating in school plays and musicals, and was an active member of the Drama Club in primary and secondary school.

CAREER

While at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Rachel Edwards was a member of a Theatre Company, performing in stage plays and acting in low-budget short films in the Benin Film Industry. After graduating and completing her National Youth Service Corps, she moved to Lagos to pursue a full-time acting career. She has acted in about a dozen Nollywood films, including 'Mustapha', 'A Long Way Down', 'The Third Wheel', 'Baggage', 'Empathy' (which she also produced), 'Failed Love', 'Someone Like Her', 'Tug of Love', and 'Tania’s Trap'. Rachel is also a successful entrepreneur, running a thriving small business in the beauty, cosmetics, and personal care industry as a makeup artist and online store owner. In May 2022, she participated in the 7th season of the Big Brother Naija Show as a 'Rider', a special housemate who could not win but also could not be evicted, becoming a national sensation.
