Biography

Peju Ogunmola was born on April 10, 1966, in Okemesi-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. She comes from a renowned theatrical family. Her father was the legendary veteran actor, dramatist, and pioneer of Yoruba theatre, Kola Ogunmola. Her brother, Yomi Ogunmola, was also a well-known actor and director before his passing in 2003. Growing up in such an environment naturally influenced her path into the performing arts from a young age.

CAREER

Peju Ogunmola is a seasoned actress with decades of experience in Yoruba theatre, television, and film. She has featured in numerous Nollywood movies, particularly in the Yoruba genre, and is known for her strong stage presence and versatile performances. She gained wider recognition through roles in popular productions and has continued to appear in films such as Omo Ghetto: The Saga, House of Ga'a, and various other Yoruba and English-language projects. She comes from a rich theatrical lineage and has maintained a consistent career, earning respect as one of the veteran female voices in Yoruba cinema. In recent years, she has balanced acting with family life while occasionally stepping back for personal reasons, including her return to set after mourning her son.

PERSONAL LIFE

Peju Ogunmola is married to veteran comic actor, playwright, film director, and producer Sunday Omobolanle (popularly known as Papi Luwe or Aluwe). She is his second wife. The couple has children together, including a son, Ayomikun Omobolanle (also called Shina), who tragically passed away in September 2025 at the age of 24 after a brief illness. She is also stepmother to Sunkanmi Omobolanle, who is an actor. In 2025, she took a break from acting following the loss of her son but has since returned to the industry.
