Gloria Anozie-Young

Gloria Anozie Young is a veteran award winning actress, writer, broadcaster, and former Journalist, married to Norbert Young, she gained her bachelors degree in mass communication from the University of Dallas United States, she featured in the movie The weekend a 2025 film by Daniel Oriahi, Mother of the brides, Merry Christmas, something about the Briggs, amongst other, Gloria had her primary and secondary school education at surulere and Yaba Lagos state Nigeria respectively, her breakthrough began in 1994 with her role in the movie Glamour girls.

EARLY LIFE

Gloria Young was born on 4 February 1967 in Abia State, Nigeria. She attended Fountain School, Surulere and Methodist Girls High School, Yaba, both in Lagos State for her primary and secondary education. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Dallas and returned to Nigeria in 1987.

CAREER

Young started her career as an energy correspondent of the Daily Times before transitioning into entertainment, where she became a popular figure on the Charly Boy Show. Her acting career took off in 1994 when she played a key role in the movie "Glamour Girls," which became a major success. In this film, she portrayed the character Doris alongside some of Nollywood's most prominent actors, including Dolly Unachukwu, Liz Benson, and Zack Orji. The 90s were a peak period for her, with a Vanguard publication noting that she was a dominant force in the Nigerian movie industry during that time. In 2022, Young returned to the screen as a co-star in the Nigerian streaming series "Diiche," produced by James Omokwe. She shared the screen with actors like Uzoamaka Aniunoh and Chinyere Wilfred. The series premiered in October in Lagos, with the event hosted by Chigul. She also featured in the movies 'The Weekend' (a 2025 film by Daniel Oriahi), 'Mother of the Brides', 'Merry Christmas', and 'Something About The Briggs', amongst others.

PERSONAL LIFE

Gloria Young married Norbert Young and they have three children. During her 50th birthday, a football match was held at the National Stadium in Lagos state to honour her. In March 2025, she opened up about her past struggles with infertility and how she was childless for 7 years.
