Fausat Balogun

EARLY LIFE

Fausat Balogun was born on 13 February 1959 in Ifelodun, Kwara State, Nigeria. She started acting at a very young age — around 10 years old — under the tutelage of Rafiu Balogun, who was then her boss in a theatre group. She grew up in the theatre environment and developed her acting skills through practical stage work from the mid-1970s.

CAREER

Fausat Balogun is a highly respected veteran Yoruba actress with a career spanning over 50 years. She began acting professionally in 1975. She gained massive popularity for her role as Mama Saje (Sisi Clara) in the 1990 television series Erin Kee Kee. She has featured in over 80 Yoruba movies and is loved for her motherly roles and iconic lines like “O ṣe Baba mi”. Some of her notable films include Oyelaja, Owo Onibara, Okan Mi, Omo Elemosho, Òmìn, Omo Pupa, and many others. She is celebrated as one of the pillars of Yoruba cinema. In 2016, she received a Special Recognition Award at the City People Entertainment Awards for her remarkable contributions to the Nigerian movie industry.

PERSONAL LIFE

Fausat Balogun is married to veteran actor Rafiu Alao Balogun (also known as her former boss). They got married in 1978 when she was 18 years old. Their marriage has lasted over 48 years as of 2026. The union is blessed with two children: an eldest son who is a film director and a daughter who is also an actress. She is known for her strong faith and dedication to family.

She remains active in the industry and continues to inspire younger actors with her longevity, humility, and dedication to the craft.
