She attended Owerri Girls Secondary School, Institute of Management Technology, Enugu, where she earned a National Diploma in Mass Communication, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language.

Debuting in 'Glamour Girls' (1994), Anunobi rose to fame in the 1990s through her roles in 'Glamour Girls II' (1996). She has starred in over 90 movies, including 'Abuja Connection' and 'Letters to a Stranger'. She is also known for her iconic roles in 'Nneka the Pretty Serpent' (I & II). Her recent works include 'The Way We Were' (2024). She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie or TV Series at the 2020 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards. She won Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (2003) and Nollywood Personality of the Year (2007). Married Charles Ekwu in 2000, divorced in 2006 after six years of marriage. Her only son, Raymond Ekwu, born in 2002, passed away on August 22, 2017, at the age of 15 due to complications arising from sickle cell anemia. In 2012, she was ordained as a pastor. In 2015, her father Felix died after a brief illness. She shares wisdom on faith and life.
