EARLY LIFE

Bimbo Sunday was born in Ondo State, Nigeria, into a family with deep roots in the performing arts. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sunday Adeyemi (of blessed memory), were both actors—his mother hailed from Ondo town, while his father was from Abeokuta in Ogun State. He grew up in Ondo city in an average Nigerian family that prioritized education for him and his siblings. From a young age, he was exposed to the world of acting through his parents’ influence and the vibrant cultural environment of Ondo State. He began acting at the age of 10 in the Christ Apostolic Church (WOSEM) in Ondo State, participating in church drama activities that nurtured his passion. In 2007, he joined the Osupa Ola Theatre group in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, under the leadership of Oladeji Ikuolayole, where he honed his skills in stage performance and theatre production. His early life blended formal education with artistic pursuits, laying the foundation for his eventual full-time career in Nollywood.

Bimbo Sunday is a Nigerian actor and movie producer who transitioned from a stable career in the Department of State Services (DSS), where he served as an officer until 2017, to pursue his lifelong passion for acting full-time. He resigned from the DSS to focus entirely on Nollywood, a bold move he described as necessary to avoid becoming “a nuisance” in a job that no longer aligned with his true calling. His acting journey began in childhood through church drama and evolved through theatre groups, leading to professional opportunities in film and television. Since going full-time in 2017, he has produced several notable works, including his maiden production Lawal, followed by Ayewo Eje (also known as Genotype), Sibe Sibe, Akowe Abule, and the comedy soap opera Owo Yale (named after his late father’s stage name). He has also featured in numerous films such as Eje Ibale, Onile, Intimate (available on YouTube), Morayo, Ipe, and the critically acclaimed The New Patriots, which was selected for five international film festivals and slated for cinema release. He considers The New Patriots (produced by Dr. Rotimi Adelola, a former colleague from his government days under former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko) as the best movie he has been part of. After relocating from Ondo State to Lagos to advance his career, he faced typical industry challenges, including unpaid calls from directors and modest compensation on some sets, but he remained resilient and never considered quitting. His persistence paid off, with standout moments including being recognized as a Nollywood actor during a visit to an RCCG church in Maryland, United States, where he was hosted and celebrated by the congregation. He views the Nigerian movie industry as demanding full commitment—much like his former DSS role—but believes it can sustain a viable career when combined with smart side businesses for long-term security. His background in mass communication, criminology, and social work, combined with his theatre experience, has enriched his performances and production work. He continues to contribute to Nollywood through acting and producing, with a focus on stories that resonate with audiences. PERSONAL LIFE

Bimbo Sunday is married and has spoken openly about the support he receives from his wife, despite initial reservations about his career shift. Together, they own a house and a car, reflecting a stable family life built on mutual understanding and resilience. He is a devoted Christian and was invested in the Celestial Church of Christ, an event that highlighted his faith and spiritual commitment (he was accompanied by fellow Nollywood actor Damola Olatunji).
