While This Heart Beats

Aaron Coker, heir to a wealthy family, suffers from a failing heart and is told he needs a transplant within three months, but he refuses because he cannot accept someone dying for his sake. During a tense family meeting, his sister exposes Bianca's long-held secret of infertility, and Aaron ends their three-year relationship, sinking into despair. He confides in his best friend Chuks, a devoted father, that he would rather die than take a heart from another person. One night, thugs attack Aaron and Chuks on an unsafe street, and Chuks is fatally wounded. Before dying, Chuks records a video message, declaring he is donating his heart to Aaron so that his daughter Ifunaya will have a future. At the funeral, Ifunaya confronts Aaron with bitter accusations, blaming him for her father's death. She returns to her village and learns her uncle has seized her inheritance and threatens to burn her school credentials unless she marries a man he has chosen. Aaron follows her, pays the uncle seven million naira, and convinces Ifunaya to come to Lagos as his fake wife, promising a job and a fresh start. In Lagos, Ifunaya gradually lowers her guard as Aaron finds her an apartment, a car, and a job, and he cooks breakfast and gives her gifts, leading them to fall in love. At a party, Bianca appears and cruelly reveals Aaron's heart condition, calling him a standing corpse, which wounds Ifunaya because he kept the secret from her. Aaron confesses his love and explains his fear of losing her, and they reconcile. A blackmailer then sends him a note demanding money over a past secret, and while Ifunaya is at the Coker residence, she learns the heart in Aaron's chest is her father's. She storms at the family, but they show her Chuks's video, in which he willingly gave his heart so Ifunaya would never be alone. Devastated, she struggles with the sacrifice, but Aaron insists his love is genuine, not born of guilt, and tells her she is his future.
