The Day She Left Us

Collins, a successful but arrogant man, treats his wife Clara like a servant, expecting her to manage both her career and all household chores. Their daughter Nneoma witnesses his constant verbal abuse. After a particularly harsh argument, Clara leaves the family, telling no one but her sister. Collins initially lies to Nneoma, claiming Clara is on a work trip in Abuja. Left alone, he hires a cheap house help named Mavis, who turns out to be a con artist. Mavis steals the family car, Clara's jewelry, Collins's watches, and drains his bank accounts. After the police catch Mavis, Collins must admit to Nneoma that her mother left because of his behavior. His life hits a low point when Nneoma gets her first period and he is completely unprepared. In desperation, he calls Clara for help. Clara returns to care for Nneoma but insists on a divorce, criticizing Collins's past behavior as superficial. Collins begins therapy and works hard to change. Over the next year, his genuine efforts lead to a full reconciliation.
