It Takes Two

In It Takes Two, Nnamdi and Nkem are already fighting when he comes home. He brings a small bag of hake fish, and she had asked for three kilograms of chicken. The argument turns into frustration over money and responsibility. Their son Chimobi finds his younger sister Mimi outside her school gate, sent home because tuition is unpaid. He pleads with a security guard to let him speak to someone, but the guard refuses. Chimobi takes Mimi home and promises to find a way to cover her fees. He tries to make money driving a tricycle and working on a construction site, yet his parents keep fighting. Nkem tells Chimobi she is in love with a man named Dennis and plans to leave the marriage. Nnamdi responds by bringing a woman named Anna into the house, chillingly telling Chimobi to help Mimi accept her. Mimi deliberately sabotages a restaurant meeting with Anna, and Chimobi visits Dennis on his own to question his mother's relationship. The visit makes Dennis doubt his relationship with Nkem. Then the children's secret Project 10 Days is exposed. It turns out Chimobi and Mimi have been plotting to bring their parents back together with notes and staged events. Under the pressure of the children's plea, Nnamdi and Nkem finally sit down to talk. Nnamdi apologizes for bringing Anna into their home and promises to end the affair. Nkem admits her own involvement with Dennis and agrees to break it off. They embrace and tearfully ask each other for forgiveness. With the marriage mended, Nnamdi begins working alongside Chimobi. Mimi is sent back to school, and Chimobi and Dennis's daughter Wendy strike up a romance of their own after meeting during the chaos. The family shares a peaceful dinner, and the film closes on the unified family sitting around the table, passing plates and enjoying one another's company as the credits roll.
