Forever Bound

Jerry and his wife Kamsi share a playful routine. She jogs while he stays in bed, and they talk about an anniversary trip to a private island. The next morning she jogs alone, and a speeding car hits her. Jerry rushes to the hospital, where a doctor says she is in a coma. She wakes weeks later, and the doctor says her spinal cord injury will leave her paralyzed. Jerry blames himself for not going with her, carries her to a downstairs room, and becomes her full-time caregiver, cooking, feeding, and bathing her. Kamsi sinks into depression, tells a friend she wants to die, and asks for poison. She pushes Jerry away, so he returns to work and hires a caregiver. The caregiver is Shade, his secondary school girlfriend and first love. They slide into comfortable talk about school days, and Jerry plans an anniversary dinner with candles. At the dinner, Kamsi says she believes he feels only pity and asks for a divorce. Hurt, he leaves, and Shade comforts him and kisses him. Jerry tells a friend he cannot resist Shade and nearly sleeps with her. Kamsi sees the kiss and asks for a divorce, and Jerry dismisses Shade. She then confesses she had secretly regained movement in her fingers but hid it out of fear. Shade pleads with Jerry and calls Kamsi a burden. Kamsi's friend reminds her of Jerry's devotion and urges her to forgive his one mistake. Kamsi chooses to forgive Jerry. At a police meeting about the hit-and-run, Kamsi drops the charges and lets the young driver go, saying she wants to move on and be happy. Her condition improves, she uses crutches, and the couple reconciles. They pack for Santorini, and Jerry helps her into the car, promising they will make the best of their new beginning.
