Storyline
In Arike a teenager grieves her mother Abike who died from cancer. She lives with her father Bujiu, a social worker and Bible study teacher known as Raboju, who raises her with strict faith because he fears losing her. Arike prepares for her JAMB exams and finds solace in her friendship with Bamidele. She meets Edafe at a party and he invites her to his birthday celebration. Their relationship deepens and they record a private intimate video that Edafe's friend Timi leaks online. Vicious attacks follow against Arike and the church suspends her from the teenage choir. The pastor relieves Bujiu of his teaching duties and questions his household leadership before the congregation. Bujiu confronts Arike with devastating harshness and calls her a disgrace before temporarily casting her out of the house. Bamidele's mother forbids the friendship to protect her own daughter's reputation. Isolated and shamed, Arike reaches a breaking point. Bujiu eventually softens and acknowledges his own anger while offering forgiveness. He visits Bamidele's mother and argues persuasively that the girls need each other's support and that parental guidance should be rooted in love rather than fear. The mothers reconcile and allow the friendship to resume. Bujiu and Arike rebuild trust through honest conversation about her longing for connection and his fear of losing her after so much pain. In a final encounter Edafe apologizes sincerely and reveals he has won an architecture scholarship. Arike accepts his apology but Bujiu firmly maintains boundaries to protect his daughter. Arike and Bamidele reaffirm their bond with promises of accountability while father and daughter share a quiet moment of mutual understanding that healing is a daily choice.
