The movie 50 and Unmarried shows a mother who is tired. Very tired. Cheta's children Yomi and Simi treat her like dirt. They sit around while she cleans and cooks. They yell when she asks for help. One day Cheta meets Frederick. He is handsome, polite, and rich. He likes her. Her friend Renike says go for it. So Cheta puts on a red dress and goes on a date. Here is the spoiler. Her children find out and lose their minds. Yomi calls her phone screaming during the date. Cheta has to leave early. At home, the children gang up on her. They say dating at her age is embarrassing. But Cheta keeps seeing Frederick anyway. He buys her gifts. He is patient and good to her. On her birthday, Frederick comes to the house with flowers and a diamond ring. He proposes right there in the living room. The children do not say congratulations. They start yelling. They call Frederick a scammer and a gold digger. They are so mean that Frederick feels humiliated. He tells Cheta he will not come between her and her kids. Then he walks out. Cheta runs after him but he drives away. Now Cheta is done. She comes back inside and explodes with anger. Years of pain come pouring out. She tells her children they are wicked and selfish. Then she drops the truth. Frederick is not a scammer. He is a rich surgeon who owns a hospital. The children realize they just chased away a wealthy stepfather. They feel stupid and guilty. Later they find Frederick and apologize. He forgives them. The movie ends with Cheta and Frederick happy together. The children finally treat their mother with respect. Everyone learns a lesson.
