EARLY LIFE
Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye obtained her LL.B from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1996 and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1997. She furthered her education with an LL.M from the University of Abuja in 2002.
CAREER
Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye is a lawyer, entrepreneur, and film producer. She is the Barrister and CEO of Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye & Co. (Legal practice) and the Founder & Proprietress of Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye Academy (Private education). In Nollywood, she has produced films such as 'Mama Onboard', 'The Senator', 'The Governor', and 'The President', and is also the President of the Association of Nollywood Producers (ANP). A trailblazer in politics, she was the first woman to contest the presidency under the All Progressives Congress (APC). She served as the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development from 2023 to 2024, focusing on women’s economic empowerment, combating gender-based violence, and fostering partnerships across civil society and development sectors.
