Pearl Agwu

EARLY LIFE

Pearl Olamma Awa-Agwu was born on October 18, 1994, and hails from Ohafia in Abia State, Nigeria. She was born and raised in Lagos state, where she also completed her primary and secondary education at Cornerstone International School, Akute, Lagos state, and Queen’s College, Yaba, Lagos, respectively. She is a twin, and her twin sister's name is Uzoma Ruby Awa-Agwu. Pearl is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she studied Foreign Languages and Literature, majoring in French and taking Russian as an elective. She also participated in a one-year language immersion program in Togo.

CAREER

Pearl started singing at a very young age and was born into a musical family. She joined her fellowship choir in university. She came to public attention as the first runner-up in MTN Project Fame West Africa Competition Season 8. She currently has her first official studio single, 'KURO,' produced by OMO. Pearl Agwu is a multi-hyphenate Nollywood professional active as an actress, screenwriter, producer, and filmmaker, while also working as a musician. As an actress she appeared in Industreet (2017), Faith Beyond Fate (2020, as Jenifer), Dream Job (2021), The Perfect Time (2021), and You May Only Kiss the Bride (2025). As a writer she has written 13 Letters (2021), I Am Nazzy (2022), The Wife (2023), and Dream Job (2021). She continues to work across film, television, and music, including soundtrack and performance work with The Official Gemstones and other collaborations.

PERSONAL LIFE

Pearl is married. She has shared the arrival of a baby. She maintains a close professional and personal relationship with her twin sister Rubee Agwu, frequently collaborating on music and appearing together in content. She has described balancing creative work with personal life and occasionally shares family-oriented moments.

Pearl maintains an active presence across social platforms where she shares career updates, music, personal milestones, and creative projects. She has been involved in music competitions from a young age and continues performing and releasing material with her twin as The Official Gemstones.
