The actor's death was announced on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, by his colleague and actress, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, who shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional video from a hospital in Badore, Lagos.
Nkechi Blessing Breaks Down Over Cjay's Death
Nkechi Blessing was visibly devastated as she announced that she had lost her colleague. The actress revealed that she was at the hospital when Cjay was pronounced dead, leaving her struggling to process the shocking development. She also announced that she would no longer release her upcoming movie Egusi Ogbono, which had been scheduled to premiere at 5 p.m. that same day. Cjay reportedly featured in the movie. The actress later shared another emotional tribute, revealing that she had spoken with Cjay at about 8 a.m. on the day he died.
"Cjay Nwoke Oma, so this is really the end? Omo we had plans," she wrote in disbelief over how quicly everything had changed.
Who was Cjay Nwoks?
Cjay Nwoks, whose full name has been reported as Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, was an actor from Awka, Anambra State, who was based in Lagos. He began his professional acting career in 2021 and went on to appear in several Nollywood productions, including Larry Cold, Mum Overnight, A Day To My Wedding, The Lies She Tell and What Time Left.
He had also appeared in productions including Godly Escort, Fond of You, Bestbet, 365 Days Couple, and Escape From Vows, according to entertainment reports.
