Biography
EARLY LIFE
Minne Kariuki was born on 1 June 1990 in Kariobangi, Nairobi. She later lived in Buruburu. Her parents both worked in the construction business and separated while she was young; this early experience contributed to her determination and drive. She attended Nairobi Primary School (where she was involved in drama club) and then Danana, a private high school in Athi River. She pursued higher education at the University of Nairobi with a focus on communication and sociology. She has spoken of wanting the best for herself from a young age and participating in drama from primary school onward.
CAREER
Minne Kariuki is a Kenyan actress, reality television personality, and entrepreneur best known for bold, larger-than-life roles and her business ventures. Television presenting: She began her media career as a presenter at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), hosting a popular youth agriculture show. This on-screen presence helped launch her into acting. Acting: Early role as Wivina in the Citizen TV series Tabasamu. When the show was cancelled, she pivoted more strongly into business to avoid relying solely on acting contracts. Breakthrough and signature role as Mariah (a beauty/travel influencer and modern “slay queen” whose lifestyle is supported by wealthy older men) in the Showmax original drama Single Kiasi. She has returned for multiple seasons, including Season 4, where the character evolves into a more independent, business-savvy woman. She has discussed the contrast between Mariah’s on-screen persona and her real life, as well as the discipline required for long shooting days while parenting. Cast member of The Real Housewives of Nairobi (Showmax / Maisha Magic), where she is known for her outspoken personality, fashion, and “shade.” She has appeared across seasons and spoken candidly about real-life dynamics, including interpersonal conflicts on the show. She has also been involved in stage work and continues to take on acting projects while managing her public profile as an influencer. Entrepreneurship: Drawing from her family’s construction background, she entered the industry around age 21. After Tabasamu ended, she committed more fully to business, specialising in the supply of construction materials (ballast, sand, and related products). She has spoken openly about early mistakes (over-expansion, high-interest loans that led to losing lorries at auction around age 26) and the lessons learned. Today she runs a successful construction-materials supply business alongside her entertainment career.
PERSONAL LIFE
She is married to Charles Muigai (Lugz Kenya). They first met in 2012 while she was working as a presenter at KBC, exchanged numbers, but reconnected later. They held a traditional wedding (ruracio) on 11 December 2021 and have been together for over a decade. They are parents to two children. Minne has been open about postpartum experiences, maternal health, and the realities of balancing motherhood with work. She frequently credits her husband as a strong support system (“rock”) through career highs and lows. The couple maintains a relatively open presence on social media while protecting certain private family details.
Minne is recognised for her unfiltered personality, ambition, and willingness to discuss personal challenges (infertility, miscarriage, postpartum health, career doubts) publicly. She has embraced and reframed labels such as “gold digger,” framing them around high standards, self-respect, and financial independence rather than dependency. She balances demanding acting schedules with motherhood and business, emphasising discipline and a strong support system. She remains active on social media and continues to expand her presence across scripted drama, reality television, and entrepreneurship in Kenya’s entertainment and construction sectors.
