CAREER

He began in film as a teenager, appearing as an extra in American Ninja 4 (1990). He made his debut as a professional actor in the South African TV Mini-series The Principal (1997). His career highlights include producing the sitcom Nomzamo (2006-2009) and performing the role of Moshe Mambo in Money Monster (2016). He also works as a theatre director and creative consultant. His theatrical contributions are celebrated for their emotional depth and cultural resonance, including his award-winning 'Cantos of a Life in Exile' (2024). On screen, his role in 'It's Not a Burial, It's a Resurrection' (2019) brought him international acclaim. His latest film is 'The Last Ranger' (2024). He has also served as Artistic Director at Joburg City Theatres and as a dramaturge at the Market Theatre and the South African State Theatre.

EARLY LIFE

Makhaola Ndebele was born in the Kingdom of Lesotho, where he spent most of his childhood. He also spent years growing up in Cambridge, England, and Denver, Colorado. He is the first-born son of Academic Professor, Author, Njabulo Ndebele, and Organisational Leader Mpho Ndebele.

PERSONAL LIFE

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Ndebele is a dedicated educator, sharing his expertise at the University of the Witwatersrand and Rhodes University. He has also served as an adjudicator and jury member for prestigious international festivals, including India's Pune International Film Festival.
