Biography

EARLY LIFE

Donald Tombia was born on September 13, 1987, in Lagos, Nigeria. His passion for storytelling was evident from an early age, nurtured by his parents who introduced him to a variety of books from Greek mythology to Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes, and Pacesetter novels. He was also fascinated by anime, manga, Eastern storytelling, and TV shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He pursued an unconventional path, studying Electrical Electronics Engineering at Igbinedion University, Okada, and Forensic Computing at the University of Bradford. He began his professional life in network security and cybersecurity after bagging his CCNA certification and working for TigerLogic Solutions Limited and Weco Systems Group.

CAREER

Donald Tombia transitioned into writing full-time in 2018, though his breakthrough in storytelling came in 2011 while studying for his Master's degree in the UK, where he began writing unconventional devotionals that evolved into short stories and a popular blog, Sleeicktales. He attended the Story Story Masterclass by Chris Ihidero, which laid the foundation for his prolific career. He quickly rose to prominence as a staff writer on the epic telenovela Ajoche and contributed to projects like the political thriller comic Trinity II and the medical drama Strain. His body of work also includes writing for the Nigerian telenovela Tinsel, the Netflix hit gritty crime series Shanty Town, and the award-winning feature Introducing The Kujus. In 2023, he co-created and head-wrote the crime television series Slum King and the telenovela Masquerades of Aniedo for Africa Magic. In October 2023, Donald launched his independent production company, Rocks & Badgers, and in 2024, began production on his directorial debut, 'Ode! There Is No Bus Stop On This Trip'. He has developed over 45,000 minutes of prime-time television and is a bestselling author.

PERSONAL LIFE

Donald Tombia is an only child. His father had wanted him to attend Covenant University, but he ended up studying Electrical Electronics Engineering at Igbinedion University. His interest in cryptography was sparked by reading Dan Brown's 'Digital Fortress'.
