CAREER
Chinwe Owoh joined Nollywood relatively late in life at the age of 42 in 1999. She has remained consistently active for over 25 years and has featured in more than 200 films. She gained widespread recognition in 2001 with her breakout role in Mothering Sunday. She is best known for her powerful emotional performances, often playing oppressed mothers, strong-willed grandmothers, or queens who cry convincingly on screen. Notable films include: Mothering Sunday (2001) Town in Danger (2003) Sister Faith (2004) The Prince and The Princess (2005) Wisdom of the Gods (2006) Royal Tears (2009) Mummy Why? (2016)
EARLY LIFE
Chinwe Owoh was born around 1957–1958 in Enugu State, South-East Nigeria. She grew up and completed her primary, secondary, and tertiary education entirely in Enugu (Coal City).
PERSONAL LIFE
Chinwe Owoh was married to Frank Owoh (brother of popular comedian and actor Nkem Owoh, aka Osuofia). The couple had children together, including a daughter who has made Chinwe a grandmother (she has at least one grandson). Contrary to long-standing rumours, she was never married to Nkem Owoh she is his sister-in-law. Sadly, her husband Frank passed away in April 2025. He was laid to rest on 26 July 2025 in Udi, Enugu State, in an emotional ceremony where Chinwe broke down in tears at the sight of his casket. Nkem Owoh attended the burial to support the family.
