Together In Love

Lara, founder of an NGO helping pregnant women, is interrupted by a call that her mother-in-law has fractured her ankle and needs surgery. In Together In Love, the news forces Lara back into contact with George, her estranged husband, but they have hidden their two-year separation from George's mother, who adores Lara. Lara plans to bring the older woman home to recover, and she threatens to reveal the secret when George insists they pretend. They grudgingly agree to act as a married couple. The mother arrives, notices their distance, and asks probing questions about their marriage, including whether they plan children. In private, Lara and George bicker over the bedroom, shove each other's possessions, fight over food and the remote, and prank each other, with Lara hiding a toy snake. The strain prompts George to plan a business trip, but his mother objects, leaving them together. Searching for medicine, Lara finds a box of baby clothes in George's closet and accuses him of keeping them to taunt her after her miscarriage. She connects his post 'Feels so good to be free' to the lost pregnancy. George says he saved the clothes because the child was his too. He says the post was unrelated and had been written for a farewell party for a difficult supervisor. He admits his emotional distance during her pregnancy was fear, not indifference: he grew up listening to his mother's painful stories about his absent father and worried he would repeat the same failures. His mother overhears him say he was afraid of becoming like his father, realizes the truth, gasps, and collapses. George's mother recovers, and the three face the truth. She learns that her warnings about George's father fed his anxiety and that Lara and George have been separated for two years. Lara admits she jumped to conclusions, and George admits he shut down emotionally. The mother apologizes for the unintentional pressure she placed on them and urges closure.
