Storyline
In The Merger, Natalie Nzekwu and Theophilus Ajibola, Apex Holdings' strategist, clash over merger terms in an aggressive boardroom session, and Krystal Digital's board collapses the talks by accusing Apex of trying to seize their jobs, leaving Natalie isolated. Kenneth, a contact at Vertex Partners, tells Natalie she is being considered for its managing director role, and her mother urges her to keep that secret from colleagues. A hospital visit reveals she is three to four weeks pregnant, and she tells her doctor she does not want the child, so the doctor advises her to slow down and take antenatal medication while she decides. At the Vertex interview, the panel says Mr Ajibola raised concerns, and she assumes sabotage, but he was a headhunter for Vertex whose glowing recommendation put her on the shortlist. She is offered the job. Regretful, Natalie calls Theophilus, learns he is on leave, then goes to his home, where his younger sister Sophie angrily accuses her of breaking Theo's heart over rumours. Theophilus appears, listens to her apology, and explains that a non-disclosure agreement prevented him from saying he was a he… [Truncated — review before publishing.]
