Lagos Couples

In Lagos Couples, John returns home to his wife Adaeze, who has spent the day preparing a special meal and eagerly awaiting a private celebration. Across the city, Bayo and Kate argue because Kate's business trip to Ghana conflicts with Bayo's family gathering. John surprises Adaeze with a blindfolded candlelit dinner, but the gesture collapses when he reveals he has forgotten their wedding anniversary and her birthday. Adaeze feels deeply unappreciated, and they exchange harsh words about sacrifice, domestic roles, and John's focus on work. The couple reconciles after John promises to write down important dates. Bayo accuses Kate of not valuing their relationship, and she insists on going to Ghana until a heated confrontation leads her to cancel the trip and stay with him. The couples' trust is severely tested when early-morning phone calls spark jealousy and suspicion. Adaeze answers John's phone, and John reacts angrily by confronting her boss and accusing him of inappropriate intentions. Adaeze then accuses John of infidelity, and the argument turns on privacy and respect. In the other household, Kate receives a call from her boss at an ungodly hour, and Bayo lashes out and accuses her of prioritizing her career over their marriage. Both couples reach a breaking point as accusations fly. Both couples eventually make amends. Bayo thanks Kate for sacrificing her Ghana trip to attend his family occasion, and she explains that she simply could not get on the flight. They embrace and reaffirm their commitment. John and Adaeze also reconcile, with John expressing gratitude for Adaeze pushing him to visit his ailing father and promising to be more attentive. The film ends with the two couples joining friends for a fun-filled game night and laughing together.
