Storyline
Funke's descent into postpartum depression goes unnoticed until her cries merge with her newborn's, and the small apartment becomes a pressure cooker of exhaustion. In "9 Months Later," her husband Jide, a diligent barber, cuts hair by day and walks on eggshells by night, but his mother's sudden presence turns their home into a battlefield of tradition versus mental illness. Mama Jide's boiling-water massages and relentless accusations of wickedness only deepen Funke's despair, driving her to whisper suicidal thoughts to the neighbor Mama Efe. As hallucinations of swarming bees invade her mind, the fragile mother hovers over her child with a knife, saved only by Mama Efe's timely intervention. Desperate for a cure beyond his understanding, Jide summons a herbalist who prepares to scar Funke's face to expel malevolent spirits.
