Biography
EARLY LIFE
Yibo Koko was born on February 2, 1967, in Port Harcourt. He is a graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Port Harcourt. He also studied film-making at the New York Film Academy at St Catharine’s College Oxford University in 2006 and advanced Film Making at the Universal Studios Hollywood California in 2007.
CAREER
Yibo Koko is a Nigerian filmmaker, art director, creative artist, and producer. He is known for creating the Seki Dance Drama, which tells the story of the Rivers State people through dance. He has served as the Director General of the Rivers State Tourism Development Agency and is a voting member of the Nigerian Oscar selection committee. Early in his career, he was a comedian and dramatist. His short film, 'A Clean Woman', was recognized as the best for its session at the New York Film Academy. He received the 'Outstanding Achievement in Film Making' Award at the 42nd Brooklyn Arts Council International Film Festival. Koko has held several significant roles, including Creative Consultant to the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, where he conceptualized and designed the CARNIRIV. He was also appointed 'Sub Committee Chairman for the 17th National Sports Festival 2011 Rivers State'. He served as Head of Production for Africa Magic Mnet West Africa and was a judge on the reality show 'Nigeria’s Got Talent'. His notable works include 'Seki Dance Drama' and the film 'Three Tramps and the Law'. He is also set to direct 'The Rising Son', a project by the late Amaka Igwe.
