Biography

EARLY LIFE

Vivian Metchie was born on February 18, 1966, in Anambra State, Nigeria. Her father was Catholic and her mother a member of the Deeper Life Bible Church. She studied Theatre Arts at the University of Ibadan, which laid the foundation for her acting career.

CAREER

Vivian Metchie entered Nollywood in 1996 with her debut role in Charles K's movie Dangerous. She gained significant recognition for her role in Zeb Ejiro's TV series Candle Light, where she played the "madam of Do Good." She took a 14-year break from acting primarily to focus on marriage and raising her four children. She returned strongly, appearing in films like Funke Akindele's Majele Ife, Stephanie Okereke Linus's Dry, Last Days (2019), Fire on the Mountain, Worst Marriage, and the TV series My Siblings & I (as Mrs. Aberuagba). She has also produced at least 2–3 movies (including Yoruba films) and co-produced others. She has collaborated with actors such as Shan George, Kate Henshaw, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Tony Umez, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Patrick Doyle, and others. Known for her versatility and strong screen presence, she continues to take on lead roles in films and series.

PERSONAL LIFE

Vivian Metchie was married and has four children. Her marriage ended in separation/divorce around 2011–2014. She became a single mother raising four children. In 2014, she converted from Christianity to Islam. She has spoken about health challenges, including being bedridden for parts of 2014 due to an undisclosed illness. She has shared family milestones publicly, such as her eldest son's return from Canada after many years.

Vivian Metchie is recognized as a veteran Nollywood figure with over three decades in the industry. She has expressed passion for acting and a desire to continue until her last breath. She is involved in philanthropic ideas and has mentioned pet projects aimed at giving back to society.
