Biography
EARLY LIFE
Tunbosun Odunsi began his acting journey in the 1960s–1970s through traditional theatre and stage performances. He has accumulated more than 57 years on screen/stage as of recent profiles. His early career involved grassroots theatre before transitioning into film production and acting in the evolving Nollywood/Yoruba movie industry. He started producing films in the early 1980s, with his first film “Ejo ni Igboro” in 1983. He has written scripts and built a reputation through consistent work in Yoruba-language productions.
Tunbosun Odunsi is a veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor known for his powerful emotional performances, often playing roles that require deep tears and vulnerability — earning him descriptions like “the only man that cries best in Nollywood movies.” He has featured in thousands of movies and has also worked internationally, including projects shot in Japan “The Sun” and films taken to America “Changing Faces”. He began producing in 1983 and has produced over 60 movies. Notable acting credits include, Ijogbon (2023) — Otun, Love Castle (2021) — Chief Priest, Olorun Merinlokan (2024) — Baba Lemusa, Ayitale (2013) — Aremu, Seven Doors — Pa Ajayi, Ero Mi, Aramotu, Aye Jobele, Sawo-Sègbèrì, and many classic Yoruba productions. He has played diverse roles such as judges, prophets, police officers, and family patriarchs. In interviews, he has discussed career revival moments, such as taking lead roles in films like Ojo that brought renewed visibility. He attributes his emotional acting prowess to keen observation of real human reactions. Despite reduced on-screen appearances in later years due to farming commitments, he continues to act selectively and remains respected as a legend in Yoruba cinema.

Pa Tunbosun Odunsi is a family man who is married with children, including actor/producer son Gbenga Odunsi. In recent years, he has balanced acting with farming on a large farm at Ago Owu in Osun State, where he raises animals and engages in agriculture.
