EARLY LIFE

Toyin Oladiran was born on March 15, 1965, in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria, into a culturally rich Yoruba environment. She grew up in Osogbo, completed her primary and secondary education there, and was exposed early to traditional storytelling, theatre, and community performances. Her passion for acting developed from watching drama shows and participating in school drama groups, often sneaking out to watch drama shows and leading drama troupes in secondary school. After completing her Senior School Certificate Examination, she began her acting career with her first appearance in Ifayemi Elebuibon's Ifa Olokun, under Elebuibon's tutelage. Before fully committing to acting, she ventured into business, selling foodstuff like her parents.

CAREER

Toyin Oladiran began her acting journey through theatre. Her late sister introduced her to Baba Yemi Elebuibon’s Theatre Group, where she made her first major appearance in the TV series Ifá Olókun Asọ̀rọdayọ. She later joined the Ajileye Theatre Group under the late Alhaji Yekini Ajileye, who gave her the stage name Abeni Agbon from her role in Koto Aye. She is best known for commanding roles involving witchcraft, traditional authority, and powerful matriarchal figures. She has worked with notable industry figures such as Oyin Adejobi, Yekini Ajileye, Kareem Adepoju (Baba Wande), Tunde Kelani, Iyabo Ogunsola, Peju Ogunmola, Iya Gbonkan, Yomi Ogunmola, Lere Paimo, Odunlade Adekola, Bimbo Oshin, Adebayo Salami, and Dele Odule, as well as many contemporary Yoruba stars. Notable film credits include Koto Aye, Ojope (2008), Idamu Akoto (2009), Ayonimofe, Ti Oluwa Nile, Efunsetan Aniwura, Enu Lebo, Ija Oloro, Onte (Stamp) (2026), Kakanfo (2020) and others. She has also produced films such as Ija Agbagba Meta and Aje Niwa. In 2009, she received an award from former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola for her contributions to the industry.

I don't even have strength for trouble to say the least. But when I am at work, it is always like I am in a battlefield.'
