Oris Erhuero was born on 23 September 1968 in Finsbury Park, London, England, to Nigerian parents of Urhobo (Urohbo) ethnicity from Delta State. As the oldest of seven children in a Nigerian-British family, he grew up in a multicultural environment that blended British and Nigerian influences. He first gained prominence in the early 1990s as one of the most photographed and publicized Black male models of his era, walking runways and appearing in campaigns for top global brands including Christian Dior, Armani, Versace, Gianfranco Ferré, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Moschino, Diesel, Vivienne Westwood, and Romeo Gigli. He worked in major fashion capitals like London, New York, Paris, and Milan, collaborating with legendary photographers such as the late Bob Carlos Clarke, Nick Knight, and Rankin. His striking presence and chameleon-like ability to transform also led to commercials for brands like Coca-Cola and Gatorade. Transitioning from modeling to acting in the mid-1990s, Erhuero quickly established himself in television and film.
