EARLY LIFE

Ruby Precious Okezie was born on 14 August 1997 in Lagos State, Nigeria, and is the youngest of seven children. Although born and partly raised in Lagos, she hails from Abia State and is of Igbo heritage. She grew up in a Catholic household and experienced a normal but modest childhood (not “with milk and honey”), learning early lessons in contentment and management. She was partly raised in both Lagos and Abia States. During her school years she was highly active in extracurricular activities, including stage plays, dance, beauty pageantry, recitations, public speaking, school competitions, and drama. She served as Press Club president in secondary school. These experiences shaped her love for show business. She completed her primary and secondary education primarily in Lagos (attending private schools on the Lagos Mainland) before proceeding to university.

CAREER

Ruby Okezie is a Nigerian actress, model, and multi-hyphenate entertainment professional who rose to prominence with her role as Nnenna in the Netflix Original series Far From Home (2022). She began as a freelance model while studying at the University of Port Harcourt. She secured representation with a Lagos-based agency and worked extensively in fashion and TV commercials for major brands (including Coca-Cola and First Bank of Nigeria). She also appeared as a video vixen in music videos for artists such as Mayorkun, Rudeboy, Zlatan, and Ycee. Her acting career started around 2017–2019 with indie short films (often landing lead or supporting roles) and early television work (including SceneOne TV series and an Africa Magic feature). Encouraged by feedback, she transitioned fully into Nollywood. Key credits include: Far From Home (Netflix, 2022) as Nnenna Glamour Girls (2022) as Tosin Agu (Showmax legal drama, 2023) as Victoria Chetam / Cheta’m (2024) as Mmesomma A Green Fever (2024) as Maltida We Are Family (2023) as Ifeoma Reverse (2025) Headless (2026) Earlier/other: Merry Men 2 (2019), Palava!, Beautiful Liar, The Bait, Boomerang, and additional titles Beyond acting, she is an entrepreneur: co-founder of Safe Space Party (an entertainment/party business, with collaborator Raymond Umenze) and Casting Director at Premium Models Talent Agency. She is also a content creator, brand influencer, and event host. She continues to expand her filmography (including projects such as Okanjuwa) and aims to become one of the most sought-after actresses in Nollywood and beyond through consistency and original storytelling.

PERSONAL LIFE

She values family highly and has spoken about gradually earning her family’s support for her acting career (initial resistance gave way after commercial success, including a major Coca-Cola campaign). Faith and gratitude feature in her public expressions.

Ruby Okezie is recognised as a rising versatile talent in Nigerian entertainment, combining modelling, screen work, and business. She has spoken about the challenges of family acceptance of an arts career and the realities of hustling in the industry.
