EARLY LIFE
Okey Uzoeshi was born on 8 April 1983 in Imo State, Nigeria. He grew up in Lagos in a household of six. He has spoken of initially aspiring to become a medical doctor, influenced by his parents’ expectations, which guided some of his early academic choices. He attended Command Children’s School and Birrel Avenue High School for his secondary education, then Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Owerri for post-secondary studies. He has described his childhood as relatively easy and fun, though he was more of a bookworm than a highly social child, and he enjoyed reciting movie dialogues from a young age.
CAREER
Okey Uzoeshi is a Nigerian actor and musician who also worked earlier as a model. He began in modeling around 2000 (working with designers such as Zizi Cardow and brands including Guinness Extra Smooth) and pursued music before fully transitioning to acting. In 2006 he participated in the Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) reality show (Season 2), finishing in the top 10 out of tens of thousands of applicants. This exposure helped launch his acting career.
