Maimuna Yahaya Abaji

EARLY LIFE

Maimuna Yahaya Abaji was born in Idah, Kogi State, Nigeria, into the Igala ethnic group. She developed a passion for the performing arts early and pursued formal training in Theatre Arts at the University of Jos.

CAREER

Maimuna gained prominence in the late 1990s, notably for her role as Emotan in the popular TV soap opera After the Storm. She has since built a career spanning over three decades as an actress and producer. As a producer, she founded MESBA Promotions Ltd and has produced several indigenous films including, Clustered Colours (2019), Warriors in Heels (2021), Walk with Me, Ojali, In Denial, In My Head, Traditions. She has also appeared in other Nollywood projects such as Omo Ghetto The Saga and The Perfect Lie (2025). She is a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP). In 1997, she was nominated as Best Actress by Nigerians in the NTA TV Guide awards. She additionally works as a newscaster, event MC, and runs talk shows like Bond and Still Bonding with Maimuna.

PERSONAL LIFE

She is married and a mother of three children. She is actively involved in marriage counseling and runs initiatives focused on family and personal development. She is based in Lagos and is described as a dedicated family woman alongside her multifaceted career.
