EARLY LIFE

Albrin Junior was born in Lagos, Nigeria, where he spent his formative years immersed in the vibrant cultural and social landscape of the country. His early exposure to literature and storytelling shaped his creative path, beginning with the poetic works of Tupac Shakur and William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. These influences sparked a lifelong passion for narrative, character development, and exploring complex human emotions. He pursued higher education at Ambrose Alli University in Nigeria, earning a BSc in Geography and Regional Planning. This academic background provided him with a strong foundation in understanding societal structures, environments, and human interactions—elements that later informed the themes of migration, identity, and survival in his writing and filmmaking. Junior’s transition to Scotland marked a pivotal chapter in his early adulthood. After arriving in Glasgow, he faced periods of uncertainty, isolation, and displacement, experiences that deeply influenced his artistic voice. These personal challenges fueled his interest in exploring the emotional realities often overlooked in public discussions about migration. He furthered his studies at the University of Glasgow, completing an MLitt in Creative Writing and earning the African Excellence Award. This period of adaptation and growth in a new cultural context honed his ability to weave personal narratives with broader social commentary, setting the stage for his multifaceted career as a writer and filmmaker.
