EARLY LIFE
Abbey Adegboyega Abimbola, popularly known as CrackyDon or Abang Sado, was born on November 2, 1980, in Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria, and raised in the Mushin area of Lagos State. He comes from a family where his father served as a priest and his mother worked as a goldsmith. Growing up in a vibrant, bustling environment like Mushin exposed him to the rich cultural tapestry of Yoruba traditions and the emerging Nigerian entertainment scene in the 1990s. From a young age, Abbey showed a keen interest in performance arts, initially pursuing a path as a rap artist before transitioning into acting and filmmaking. He attended Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) but dropped out to chase his dreams in the entertainment industry, a decision that marked the beginning of his multifaceted career. Abbey Abimbola is a pioneering Nigerian actor, stuntman, film director, producer, screenwriter, and influencer, recognized as the first Nigerian-Malaysian-based stunt actor and the first Nigerian FDAM Director (Film Director's Association of Malaysia). He is also noted as the first Nigerian MYPW Wrestler (Malaysia Professional Wrestler) and the first Seniman (artist) to excel as both an actor and stuntman in the Malaysian entertainment industry. His career began in Nigeria after dropping out of university, where he started as a rap artist before making his acting debut in the movie Heart Amending, produced by legendary director F. Olu Michael. He has since appeared in close to 150–200 Nollywood films and productions across various genres, including Omo Mushin, Sonto Alapata, Ijan Gbara, Muah, Kani, Osan Ja, Omo Senator, Omo Berre, Omo Polly, Alfa Abubakar, Lakonimowa, Agbara Eda, Adeola Terminator, Aferi, Ikoko Ajegun Jeran, Igunnungun Eiye Aye, Odaju, Oju Ide, Last Minutes, Alami, Pharao, Okan Apata, Kini Mose, Omoge Facebook, and Rihanna. Many of these were produced under his own company, AARMProductions. Seeking broader opportunities, Abbey ventured into international cinema. After facing rejections in Bollywood (India) due to limited experience, he found success in Malaysia starting around 2013. There, he landed his breakthrough as a stereo stuntman and has since starred in numerous Malaysian and regional films, including Nivea Ad, Nann Kabali Alla, Badang, Kavaal3, Air mata surga, Singam3, Journey Behind the Lens, One Blood (a blended Nigerian-Malaysian story), Nelayan, Tarak, and Thugs of America Kuruthi Sarithiram. His Malaysian projects also include recent works like Bukan Hantu Biashe Biashe (2023) and BadCop (2023). As a director, he has helmed films such as Barakah Orang Bagus Bagus, BadCop (2023), and Bukan Hantu Biashe Biashe (2023). He served as producer and writer on projects like BlackOut (his debut cinema movie, released in 2021 and distributed by Blue Pictures Ent.), which earned multiple awards including Best Feature Film at festivals in the UK, India, and Malaysia, as well as Asia's Achievement in International Expansion Award. Abbey continues to work on cross-cultural projects, such as the upcoming Nigerian film Blackout featuring veteran rapper Idris Abdul Kareem, while exploring opportunities to showcase African content globally. PERSONAL LIFE
Abbey Abimbola is married to Habibah Bt Md Madar Abimbola (also known as Habibah Abimbola), and the couple has four sons: Roqeeb Abimbola, Fawaz Abimbola, Jamal Abimbola, and Jamyle Abimbola. He currently resides in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he has built a significant part of his professional life while maintaining strong ties to his Nigerian roots.
